Aside from this lovely lodge being a wonderful piece of history located in a fantastic area, I was pleased with my room. It was large and clean, with a huge newly-remodeled bathroom. The decor was a little dark for my taste, and there was not that much lighting in the room. However, I had a lovely balcony right outside where I could watch the sunset. Bring along a 3-prong adapter for your electrical appliances (like a laptop or anything else with 3 prongs) because my room (and probably other rooms there) only had 2-prong electrical outlets. Same thing for Lake MacDonald Lodge. I ate dinner at the restaurant, and the food was good - nothing special but the servings were Texas-sized. The staff was friendly and helpful - mainly students working for the summer. If you feel the need for television, you will have to go to the lounge, as there are no TVs in the rooms. I highly recommend this hotel as part of the Glacier Park experience.

Glacier Pictures Did you know?
The park contains 700 lakes but only 131 have been named. Lake McDonald, St. Mary Lake, Bowman Lake and Kintla Lake are the four largest lakes. Numerous smaller lakes, known as tarns, are located in cirques formed by glacial erosion. Some of these lakes, like Avalanche Lake and Cracker Lake, are colored an opaque turquoise by suspended glacial silt.
